You're Never Ready

The thing about motherhood is you're never truly ready.
You're never going to be ready for the sleepless nights, the amount of laundry you'll inevitably do, the empty feeling in your heart when you go away for the first time, the way your heart races when they don't get up from a football tackle, or the gut-wrenching anxiety when they call to tell you they've been in a fender-bender.
You're never going to be ready for the way your heart explodes when they laugh with their big belly laugh, how excited they get to catch snowflakes on their tongue, the pride you have when they land the leading role, or the feelings you stir up when you look back on all the memories the day that they move out on their own for the first time.
Motherhood will be the ultimate test - unlike anything you have ever done, or will do in your lifetime. It'll test your patience, your beliefs, your faith, and your strength.
But there is nothing in this life that will cause you to grow like becoming a mother. As your roots grow deeper, your heart grows bigger, your arms grow wider, and your purpose grows more intentional.
I was not prepared, in the most beautiful way, for all that would come with becoming a mama.
My heart swells and breaks daily. I laugh and I cry in the same breath. I am so exhausted, but so full of life. I miss the old me, but couldn't imagine my life any other way.
Cheers mamas - you're doing a great job.
