* I am not a doctor, or a medical professional. None of what is contained in this blog post is medical advice, but simply my personal experience.
In my last post, I left off with my experiment with starting iodine from fresh kelp in hopes of it helping my thyroid, and in turn improving all my awful symptoms. If you haven't been following, start here.
First Impressions
I didn't know what to expect, I was just very hopeful for any level of improvement.
I opened the bottle expecting a fishy smell, but was pleasantly surprised. It didn't have a bad smell at all. I put a drop under my tongue and crossed my fingers and toes.

The results - what you're all here for!
I have been taking the iodine supplement for approximately 3 weeks now. Last week I really started to notice significant changes. Specifically I noticed my hair, incontinence, hot flashes, heart palpitations, skin, concentration, oily & flaky scalp... all improving. I even had other people noticing the changes in my skin and hair.
I know - we want receipts.
Above: My hair before (Christmas 2022) vs. Before starting Iodine (May 2023)
My hair fall went from multiple handfuls of hair each day, to half, if not better, than that amount. I even have little baby hairs growing at my hairline! The texture of my hair is back to "normal" and is not brittle and dry feeling. My scalp is no longer flaky and my hair can go a few days between washes again.

Look at those baby hairs!!
My skin has improved probably 50%. My face has improved and I have had fewer new breakouts. My back and chest have had very few new blemishes.

I went on four drives, 3.5 hours each, and only stopped to pee once. ONCE! I haven't had to duck out of a work meeting early because I could no longer do the potty dance.
I'm not having hot flashes and my night sweats have improved. I am no longer waking up with sweat running down my legs (sorry for the gross visual).
In addition, I have seen improvement in: heavy & painful periods, body odour, itchy eyes & legs & ears.
The Bottom Line
When it comes down to it, I haven't been using the Iodine for long. It could be working, or it could be a coincidence. Either way, I'm going to keep taking it and hopefully seeing more and more improvement!
Again, I am not a medical professional. Just a type A, anxious person who has a tendency to hyper-focus and dive in to things head first!
